An experienced choral conductor, Lesley Chan has achieved success in many international choral festivals. Recently, at the 17th International Choral Kathaumixw, Canada, he conducted the Wah Yan College Kowloon Boys’ Choir which won three first prizes and the ‘Choir of the World’ title as the overall Champion. The choir was also awarded the Grand Prix First Prize at the 34thTakarazuka Chamber Choir Contest in Summer 2018.
He made his debut as opera chorus master in the 2016 Musica Viva production of Carmen, for which his work won critical appreciation, followed by La Boheme in 2017, Madama Butterfly in 2018, The Merry Widow in 2019 and Norma in 2021.
Chan’s devotion to music education is admired internationally through his voluntary services in the Executive Committee of the HKSMSA and lectures in many overseas cities. An active composer, he has works published by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild and performed by St. Jacob’s Choir of Sweden. He collaborates with many eminent composers. He presents radio programs on the local classical music channel - RTHK4 - on every Monday evening.
Lesley graduated from the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and obtained his Master of Music degree in historical musicology from the University of London. He holds a doctorate in music (composition) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the conductor-in-residence of The Pro-Musica Society of Hong Kong.
經驗豐富的合唱指揮。近期帶領九龍華仁書院合唱團於第十七屆卡達苗世界合唱比賽(加拿大)奪得兩項冠軍及一項亞軍,並獲得總冠軍「世界合唱團」的稱號。於2018年第三十四屆寶塚國際室內合唱比賽(日本),取得總冠軍第一名。
於2016年首次擔任非凡美樂的歌劇合唱指導,合唱團於《卡門》中的演出備受好評。其後2017年的《波希米亞生涯》;2018年的《蝴蝶夫人》;2019年的《風流寡婦》及2021年的《諾瑪》同樣獲得讚賞。
陳氏熱心於音樂教育,除擔任不同公職,亦經常於不同城市的講座及研討會中發表。其音樂創作也獲得香港作曲家聯會出版,亦曾由世界知名合唱團演出。逢週一晚上,他於香港電台第四台主持古典音樂節目。
畢業於香港大學、香港演藝學院,於英國倫敦大學取得音樂碩士(歷史音樂學),並於香港中文大學完成音樂博士(作曲)。現亦為香港雅樂社駐團指揮。
